paula deen gooey butter cake Cake:
1 18 1/4-ounce package yellow cake mix
1 egg
8 tablespoons butter, melted

1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 tablespoons butter, melted
1 16-ounce box powdered sugar


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Combine the cake mix, egg, and butter and mix well with an electric mixer. Pat the mixture into the bottom of a lightly greased 13 by 9-inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs, vanilla, and butter and beat together.

Next, add the powdered sugar and mix well. Spread over cake batter and bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Make sure not to over bake as the center should be a little gooey.

  This gooey butter cake is outstanding! I have been making it for years as it is a family favorite... However, I use the "butter cake mix" not the yellow mix. Duncan Hines brand works great. When the cake is cool, I sprinkle powdered sugar on the top. This cake is also a delicious breakfast coffee cake.

    A friend made this a few weeks ago, I ate a piece and OMG IT WAS GOOD. Definitely not a once a day or even once a week food, but delicious.

    LOL! You could rename this "How Paula Developed Type 2 Diabetes" !

Only 380 calories per serving, if I can believe the Spark tracker, but a WHOPPING 50g of carbs, 40g of them from sugar!

How about a round of Eat THIS, not THAT:

    Paula Deen is such a great cook. Now that she has diabetes & has lost 30 lbs. (or so), I hope she will show us how to adjust some of her recipes so they are not so high caloric but still taste good.
