Good Morning; it is just amazing how time changes attitudes. My son had an escort and then did not have one. Yesterday he was struggling with working with his canes and holding onto his paperwork. A soldier saw him reported him to command and they sent him an escort. This escort was a wonderful Sgt - he knew. My DS has seen a change in attitudes in soldiers making fun of other soldiers. What has happened to our courtesy and honoring the wounded warriors. Even his first Sgt- who is a real jerk said to him- after you clear, are you going to run a mile. DS says I wish. I am so glad he is getting out. He still says that he loved the Army and it is good if you are healthy- but when you are not able - he says the Army turns on you. He has felt under-valued- made to feel worthless. From my point of view, my son had to see this side of the Army for him to get away from the hypnotism that this way of life has on young soldiers. He is now talking about going for another surgery for his back once he is out of the Army. My son has paralysis in one leg now. He needs another doctor to look at him. The first surgery was botched b/c the doctor put the wrong gauge screws and the back was failing, the second surgery was a re-do of the first surgery. But b/c of the fact he was not able to heal properly like a civilian is able to by getting time off and proper physical therapy and monitoring ones progress. He feels he needs to get another consultation to see what is happening now. Have a good day! I am going to the gym. DH & I celebrating 34 th wedding aniversary this weekend.
