Share the Good Things You Do With Others!

Tuesday, May 07, 2013

A few days ago, my Spark Coach Daily Challenge was to invite someone else to exercise with me, so I formally (meaning specifically) asked my boyfriend to join me on a walk through his woods when he was finished changing the oil in my car. Is this an unusual activity for us?? No, it's not, so in some ways I almost felt like I had cheated on my challenge, because it was too easy.

I have started walking every day before work--as many of you have already read about--and I have added a walk in at lunch time, which I had been resistant to for such a long time, because I didn't want to feel rushed to have my lunch--truth is, I don't pack a great big lunch, and I have small fruit/cheese snacks off and on throughout the day, so it really isn't a hardship at all, and I discovered that I love and look forward to this additional "me time" that I give myself every day. As I have been building this habit, I've been also making a habit of using that time to check in with my sweetie in a few text messages..."having my lunch walk--what are you up to?" and we chat a little bit. Yesterday, when I sent him that text, he responds back to me--"taking a walk at a park on my route"...how awesome is that!? He has done this before on his own too, but I'll bet that he'll make it a habit to share with me too :)

Share the little good things you do with people you love and others--you never know how you can make a small positive change for another!

I just love this! I too love walking, and I love when I get little bits of time to take extra walks. Sometimes I sneak out of my school to take a walk (not the most beautiful area, but it's still nice and I find some secret treasure areas). How nice that you can do it with your boyfriend. Lovely.

OH how I agree! Last spring my elderly neighbour, she's 83 lost both her husband and their old dog within a month of each other. She's all alone now in a big house on 10 acres. when I heard her husband had died, I stopped in and asked if she would like to walk with me a day or 2 a week and walk one of our dogs.

We still do this one year later and she has thanked me over and over again for what a difference this gesture has made in her life. She's an incredibly strong woman for her age and in better health than I am.

I love your blog, it brings to light how important it is to communicate with others in small ways and how those small ways can be so powerful!

It's so great to "slip away" for a walk with someone we love in the middle of the day. Such a simple thing, but powerful in life, I think. I love the idea to remember to invite...

How nice that your boyfriend is picking up your walking habit. I love the alone time of walking also. I do the early morning, but now am considering adding a lunch walk.

Great blog. great way to stay on track.
