I got the +1 year, -60 pound, no more tiny feet blues...

Monday, May 06, 2013

I'm usually pretty quiet. I read a lot, but I don't say a lot. Well, I have something to say today.

Today is my 1 year anniversary on Sparkpeople. I am so excited, proud, and happy for everything I have accomplished. It isn't just the 60's the whole life change. I eat healthier, I am more active, more agile. As my youngest (age 8 says), I no longer have tiny feet. He had to explain that one to me. When I was heavier, apparently it made my feet look tiny. Now that I have lost so much weight, my feet don't look tiny any more! I'm GUESSING that is a good thing! emoticon

My family has benefited as well! My husband also does Sparkpeople, and has lost 50 pounds. My kids eat healthier meals, and I am much more conscious about whether or not they get in those servings of fruits and vegetables. My middle son wants to do a kids' triathalon now, and I can actually help him train! I am positive the whole family is living healthier lives, too.

Valentine's Day 2013

Now for the's kind of like newly weds...after a year, the newness wears off. The honeymoon is over. I am soooo TIRED of tracking everything I eat, watching everything. It doesn't help that once you get your weight down further, your calorie needs are less. There isn't any wiggle room any more for sneaking in an extra treat now and then. Well, there is. But with the blues you don't see it.

The stress in my life just adds to oldest is graduating high school in a month. So add the grade worries, college finance worries, and "I'm losing my baby" worries, and all the hard work just doesn't seem worth it any more.

Course, I call it hard work. Is there such a thing as easy hard work? Sparkpeople has made it seem least for me.

Anyway, I know....quit your griping, pull up your big girl panties, and get back to it!

Raising my wineglass to Sparkpeople...Thank you for an awesome year and helping to make all these changes. I am more confident about myself and my appearance. All the fantastic changes get attributed to this site. Here's to the final 20 or so pounds. Hopefully they will leave as smoothly as the first 60 did!

Wonderful Sparkiversary Blog! Congrats on the full year and on the incredibly wonderful accomplishment of losing 60 pounds. Yes, it is annoying to continue all the tracking, yet so definitely worthwhile!

First of all, having been a college freshman myself, I'll tell you that your daughter is going to be just fine at school (point her towards the "College Living" Lifestyle Center here on SP to ward off the "Freshman Fifteen"). You definitely have a lot to be proud of over the last year. It's great that you'll be able to help your son train for the kids triathlon, which is something you wouldn't have been able to do before your weight loss. Take lots of pictures of you helping him prepare to look at on days when you need some motivation to remember why you are going through all this work. emoticon emoticon
