Day 36 - oh the joys of finding a job...
Monday, May 06, 2013
Right now I work part time in a residential group home with 8 clients. One client has been in special care elsewhere for over 18 months now but her bedroom is still filled with her belongings.... So realistically, I have 7 adult clients who are developmentally delayed. They are amazing! They look at the world differently and they are easy to laugh. (they tease me a lot...). Several days ago, the client who loves to go with me to my son's baseball games had a mild heart attack. She is doing well but still in the hospital. Today, I took a male client with me to visit her. She wanted to know when I can take her to another baseball game. She made me smile...
They are all aware of my schooling and eventual graduation, which happened yesterday. They are also aware that I will be seeking employment elsewhere, which I am doing now. They are sad, and so am I. I would definitely stay there if the pay was to my liking or if I was very wealthy, but that is not the case.
I hope that when I do find a job, I can still keep working part time there, just to hang out with them!
Speaking of which, I applied to another position at my job and I got a response that she wants to meet with me for an interview! Yippee!
I also applied to other jobs outside the agency, so keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I will get a job in my field soon!
