A Monday in May

Where did the day go?? It's practically 4:00 and the day just whizzed by!

5% Challenge team members from any team: do you realize how much work your leaders put into running the challenges?? It can be very time consuming! I'm just glad I have the time to put into it right now. It especially is busy in the days prior to the start of the challenge as we work on getting everything in place, inviting team members, etc. So that's where part of my day has gone.

Had to drive to the vet to pick up meds for one of my cats. Laundry is almost finished. Dishwasher still needs to be emptied. I did 45 minutes of Tai Chi (still a beginner) and did it on my patio in the fresh air! Chatted with an old neighbor who, bless her heart, just got divorced and has a 2 year old and very limited job options due to no training and no education after high school. So now she's depressed, scared, etc. She's actually a couple of years older than my oldest and her mom died when she was in high school, at which point her dad remarried and basically wrote her, her older brother and sister off. He's helping her some now, but she and the others really needed it back when their mom dad, when he chose his new wife over his kids (new wife moved in with them but couldn't get on with them. No surprise there: when there mom hadn't been gone more than a couple of months and he remarries, giving them no time to really grieve as a family). Anyway, she kept telling me she loved me, even though I've seen her two times in the last year after around 6 years of not seeing her. I feel so sorry for her and tried to give encouragement and comfort. Will she make something of herself and turn her life around? I don't know. She has a lot against her, but she has a lot going for her, too.

Enough on that. Got to finish a few more chores before DH gets home so I can relax and enjoy an evening walk. The weather is gorgeous and I want to take advantage of it.

They say "time flies when you are having fun". Sure am glad you are having fun being one of the leaders for this challenge. All of us really appreciate all you do to motivate us and keep us on track to reach our goals.

I'm sorry to hear of your young friend having such a hard time. Your listening to her is giving her lots of moral support now and eventually she will find her way and be able to have a better life for her & her child.

Only a few more days until the challenge gets under way!

Yes! We truly do realize the effort it takes to be a team leader... Frankly that is one of the reasons I have held back so far from offering. I just don't know if I can commit the time. THANK YOU for all your efforts on our behalf to have such a great challenge!!!
Your neighbor is lucky to have you... I get so sad when I hear stories like hers. Friends are EVERYTHING in those situations. Your heart is certainly in the right place. I am touched by your giving nature... Kudos!

Thank you so much for being our team leader!!!! It is indeed much appreciated!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm sorry about your friend!
From the age of her child I assume she must not be very old, and that makes me think that she will manage to turn her life around! (not that it is not possible when you are older, but for sure even more difficult). For sure it will be tough but I hope she will manage to find the strength and fight very hard to win her happiness! Also no matter what the reason for getting the divorce, one positive thing about all this is that it is much better that she did it now than if it would happen later!

I don't know how you leaders find the time to do it but all your hard work and time invested is greatly appreciated! It sounds like your neighbor has had a rough time. Hopefully things will start to look up for her. Enjoy your evening walk!

May is whizzing by, too! Thanks for being a team leader--the challenge is so wonderful.

So sad about the young woman. She is the person social services is set up to help--because she will get OFF once she gets her act together. Also so sad about the dad--that isn't the way to keep your family together.

I have gotten a lot done today--needed to!
