Learning to Be Kind to Myself, and Workout Plan Week 3

A really big part of this whole process for me is learning to be kind to myself and learning to forgive myself if I fail to meat my sometimes irrational expectations. I'm a perfectionist at heart, and when I don't attain perfection, I - all too frequently - shut down. Looking at some of my prior self-talk, I realized that I was pretty horribly mean to myself, and I'm working to change that.

As part of my 30 days before I turn 30 project, I'm working on putting that lesson into effect when it comes to putting more effort into my friendships, or in some cases, learning to let go when I need to. I've also now completed two weeks of posting my workout plans and doing my best to stick to them! This past week, I did manage to do all of the workouts except Friday's 40 minutes on the treadmill, but starting Wednesday, I also did about 30 minutes of yoga each day including Saturday. I generally go to the gym at night, so I find doing yoga early in the day provides a nice counterpoint but doesn't wear me out enough to interfere with other workouts in the evening. Also, this weekend turned into a kind of major emotional mess for me, and yoga genuinely provided some solace. It's something I want to continue for sure.

That said, here's the workout plan this week! Let's hope I can keep this streak up of sticking to it!

Sunday: Strength - Crunches Circuit Other - Yoga 30 min
Monday: Cardio - Treadmill 40 min Strength - Crunches Circuit, Arms Other - Yoga 30 min
Tuesday: Strength - Abs with Ball Other - Yoga 30 min
Wednesday: Cardio - Treadmill 40 min Strength - Crunches Circuit, Arms Other - Yoga 30 min
Thursday: Cardio - Treadmill 40 min Other - Yoga 30 min
Friday: Cardio - Treadmill 40 min Other - Yoga 30 min
Saturday: Yoga 30 min

As a note, I might also try adding some other machines in at the gym this week. I did the rowing machine briefly last week, and it was pretty great!

Regardless, I'm ready for this to be another good week for my health, and I hope it's a good one for you too!

    Sounds like you have a plan. Here is a quote from MariLou Henner that I heard her say on the Dr. Oz show, "There are no mistakes, cheat days, or bad days. Each day is a day in the laboratory of your life. You experiment and learn from what worked or didn't work and make better choices the next day based on what you learned."

So forge ahead and experiment and learn. This is a journey and a process. Enjoy.
