I have been on a pureed diet since coming home from the hospital on 4/26/13 since the 29th I have been having trouble getting liquids down as it hurts and feels like it gets stuck. I have been drinking my water from a teaspoon taking in only 1/2 at a time and it still hurts. I broke down and called my surgeons assistant this morning and she has takin me off of the pureed diet and put me back on straight liquids. (As if pureed wasn't bad enough) they want me consuming at least 64oz of liquids a day and I can only get down 16-20 on a good day. She said she would pass the info along to the surgeon to figure out the best plan to keep me hydrated and find out why I'm having so much trouble. Hoping tonhear from her today. I hope everybody is having a great start to the week.I try to check in as much as possible. Thank you to everybody for the well wishes, it means a lot to me!

Hmmmm, it does seem like you should be able to drink more than that at this point. My surgeon told me to expect to have issues with swallowing for about six weeks but he did my wrap a tiny bit loose in order to alleviate that. Nonetheless, I was terrified of getting a urinary tract infection since I drank so little. I mostly would drink cranberry juice in the hopes of preventing that from happening. I hope that your surgeon can help you...BTW, I am almost six months post-op and I still can't drink 64 oz a day.

I sure hope that you can stay hydrated and won't have to get IV Fluids or TTN for nutrition.
Good Luck & hope that you get some answers.

That does sound like quite the challenge. I wish you well and a speedy recovery so that this difficulty will be one very soon.

Take care and take it one day at a time...
