I'm the type of person who likes to colour code things to keep myself organized, and right now my second half of May has so many different colours of pen and highlighter that I'm tempted to just give up and start drawing happy faces and flowers over the rest of it. Amazingly, even though I have a dozen little seperate things all falling in that three week period, and somehow I haven't had any major timing conflicts yet. Where things get difficult is keeping the constant training and eating right mixed in with everything else that's going on:
May 10 - 13: Road trip to Nelson for a memorial. I need to not overdo it on travel foods and make sure I get at least 12k in on Sunday, even if that means running up and down a 1km strip of lake twelve times.
May 14: Three meetings, a new employee starting, and a workplace celebration involving cream puffs. Oh, and five expense reports to put together in one day, since I'm going to be out of town on the days I'd usually do them.
May 17 - 20: My dad is visiting. This means taking my parents out for a long walk (with ice cream at the end), getting dragged to a bar by my uncle (Yep... I'll be the girl in the redneck bar drinking only water with lemon), and a Sunday that will involve my last little 6k run, brunch, theater, and visiting with family all day.
May 21 - A stressful meeting that I'm organizing, and I don't actually have a topic for yet. I'm guessing that I can't get away with saying "Just talk for two hours and I'm sure something will come out"?
May 22-24: A work trip that was originally supposed to happen in June. At least my hotel has some much better eating options than the one I usually stay at. I'm going to try to get to the Red Deer running room for Wednesday run club (I just found out my aunt is working there now!) and keep myself on track as much as possible. It's a little easier now that we have offices in town instead of way out in the middle of nowhere, where your catering options are the one pizza franchise that's willing to deliver to the boonies.
May 26th: Oh yeah, there's a marathon in there.
??? - Nick's parents are also thinking of visiting at some point. Luckily, it looks like it might be happening in June.
So, while I was hoping to spend the next three weeks focusing on the race, it looks like I'm going to be juggling a few other things. That might be a good thing. I have my running schedule and I know how I need to eat, so I can put training in the background and focus on everything else. I have a feeling these weeks are going to fly by.
