Day 122 - Can't stay on track (up 3.2 pounds)

Seems like I’ve been having great weeks or really bad weeks (with last week being the latter). I gained 3.2 pounds last week. I just can’t seem to get back on track. It is definitely sweets that are doing me in. I’ve tried going cold turkey and having no sweets and that didn’t work. I tried doing one sweet treat per day and that didn’t work. I’m just not sure how I’m going to get the one back under control. I was on a great roll to start the year off and now I’m off again and on again. I’m very frusterated with myself.

I do think I need to do a weekly recap on exercise and eating. I was so consistent earlier in the year, that my annual numbers look good even though my recent actions have not been good at all.

Two of the kids in our neighborhood are learning to ride their bikes without training wheels so, despite the fact that those kids are 1 and 2 years older than my son, he wants to learn now too. I had been prepared for this request which is why I started the SP 5k My Way Rookie Running program a few weeks ago. Unfortunatley I’m only about ½ way through. I’m a bit nervous about this, but I figure running by him on the bike is way less challenging than entertaining myself on the treadmill. Beside, I jog on an incline and we live on a flat road. OK, so maybe I’m just trying to convince myself it will be OK. I don’t know, but we’ll find out soon.

    Unfortunately weight loss is not always linear! (neither is weight gain) so hang in there! How else can you reward yourself besides sweets? I have to be really careful with sweets- once I start I can't stop!

    I was worried about your 3.2 gain before I saw the 5.2 loss. That means you are down 2. Way to go! Weight loss is not a straight line, it is all over the place, but a downward trend is what you want. emoticon

    I have a problem with both sweets and salty snacks. At one time I was satisfied with one sweet treat a day and I hope I can get back to that.

    I think that running beside your son to help him learn to ride a bike without training wheels should give you some good exercise. I hope you both do well.

    Sorry about the gain, but don't spend too much time thinking about it. Its better to keep your thoughts on the positives....and one HUGE positive is that you are still trying and not giving up! Just keep doing your best, and you will lose those pounds again. I know its sucky to have to lose the same pounds again...I've been there. But you CAN do this!

    It's discouraging, yes, but weight does fluctuate, and you'll soon be losing again. emoticon
