Catching up pre-Challenge

I've been so busy working on family reunion activities I have let my SP activities lapse more than a bit, including the 5% pre- challenge ones. So now it's catch-up time. The best thing is that the timing is great because I've strayed far from my healthy habits and goals but only recently so getting back before things get totally out of control is going to be A Good Thing for me! Today was a case in point. I've let the vegetable and fruit supplies get low, we had a doctor's appointment which made lunch timing difficult and I ended up making a "picnic" type lunch which involved lovely rye bread and ciabatta, and which spilled over into dinner! Now, there's nothing intrinsically wrong with rye bread, but there is with consuming half a loaf at once!
So here are my strategies for success; basically, they involve returning to previous good habits:
- always have a supply of vegetables and fruit on hand
- plan meals ahead in order to avoid impulse buying
- allocate some foods (like bread) to a specific time of day/week in specific portions
- when forced to eat out concentrate on salads/soup/vegetable dishes without unnecessary extras
- stop eating between meals at home or away
- get in at least 30 minutes movement throughout the day (which doesn't involve fingers tapping on a keyboard!)
- keep on SParking emoticon

    You've got some great plans! Being aware that I need to keep the right kind of food around and not let supplies dwindle is crucial for me, as I've discovered.

  sandwiches are my downfall. when I am rushed (like I have been) with too many deadlines and no time for proper planning and cooking can mindlessly eat sandwiches for breakfast lunch and dinner! your strategies are good ones for me.
