Marathon Training - Week 1
Sunday, May 05, 2013
So, I finished week 1 of my training and I think it went pretty well. Monday of course was my rest day so that goes without saying. LOL Tuesday and Wednesday are my challenging days because I work a long 10 hour day each of those days. So, running before work is essential since I don't get home until 8pm. I think I did well. Got up in enough time to have something to eat well before running. Ran 2 miles each day before work. I have to say, I felt very energized when I got to work. I made the mistake on Tuesday of having no coffee before running. I discovered I need the caffeine. LOL Wednesday's run was much better. Thursday was my rest/cross train day. I did a walk when I got home from work at 4pm. Friday I ran again in the morning before going to work in the afternoon. That was a tougher day for some reason. I think because I got started later than the other days. Saturday I was supposed to run but I didn't because I thought I would be good to run after work at 5pm. I found out that running after work on Saturday is not going to work for me. So, I will need to get up earlier on that day also and run before work. I also incorporated on T, Thur and Sat ab exercises. A strong core makes for a strong runner! And today was my long run day. I ran 3 miles again today and happy to say, I shaved off some time of my pace. :) I ran it in 37:22 which gave me a 12:16 per mile pace. My goal is to run the race at a 12:30 pace.
So, not bad for my first week. I learn some things I will and won't do now so I will rest tomorrow and Tuesday begin my second week.
