I haven't disappeared this time, I just haven't been blogging. I've made an awesome new friend on here, and she and I have been messaging instead of my posting blogs. But, I did want to post one this evening.

For the last couple weeks I have been about 50/50 for being on plan and off. It has been a HUGE improvement over how I was eating for several months, but still far from perfect. I haven't been eating as much fast food, and virtually none of the rich and sweet baked goods I was consuming daily. I haven't had a cupcake in weeks!

One really big advantage to my new friend is that she's great motivation. She has lost 40 lbs since Nov, and that's when I joined. So I can't help but think... maybe I could have lost 40 lbs too! And, for sure, I could have not GAINED any lbs. But, I did. Now the trick is turning around in my mind how I frame this. Instead of seeing myself as 40 lost lbs behind, I have to see it as a new start to lose 40 lbs.

I'm not setting huge, lofty goals. My first goal is to walk tomorrow with The Buddy. I hadn't had any contact with her months, and I figured she wouldn't want to talk to me again. But she messaged me, and now we have a date set up to walk. At 7 am, that's gonna be rough. But I know it's what I need. I need to get my day started off on the right foot. For that matter, I need to get my week started off on the right foot.

I'm also going to be much more careful about what I eat. More produce, less carbs. I'm doing okay on the protein, but I know I am way over doing it on the delicious carby food. I need to stop doing that, not only for weightloss, but for my diabetes as well. It's Spring and fresh veggies are starting to pop up, so I need to make use of them. Right now I have some summer squash, zucchini and a bell pepper I bought to roast or grill. I also have some fresh baby spinach I'm going to cook.

One way I'm helping myself on the eating front is by selecting recipes from here at SP. I have made several, and have several more lined up to make. It's an easy way to pick something healthy for dinner. Today was a turkey sausage breakfast casserole. Tomorrow is a little more experimental -- Vegetarian Lentil Loaf. I've never had lentil loaf, but I'm pretty excited to try it. I'm gonna make either some roasted veggies or some sauteed spinach to go with it.

I hope everyone had a healthy week last week and is ready to attack this week, full steam ahead.

    So glad you're making the progress you've been working toward! And having your Spark Buddy and Walking Buddy for daily motivation will be such a great help. emoticon
