This is the blog of someone who's having an UnSparkly weekend. I'm eating rice salad (containing three times as many vegetables as rice) Always the sign of food sins to expiate when you catch me eating rice salad.

I have just been reading another Sparker's blog and she's talking about a hot tub. Well, I've seen one on telly so I know what they look like, but as to trying one out . . . Maybe I'll book one somewhere for my next big birthday.

It's very clear though that I'm luckier than a lot of people. Some Sparkers live in small towns where there's no gym and nowhere to walk. I've got a gym membership and I'm only ten minutes' walk from the gym. The membership also allows me into a swimming pool, 25 minutes' walk away. And, something I used to take for granted: in England there are public footpaths all over the shop. We've also got designated national trails for walking or cycling or riding. Makes you wonder why everyone isn't out there all the time.

Then you look out of the window and it's raining again!

I do think though that it's relatively easy for us in the UK to walk from A to B. Of course if you live in a city like London as I do, it's also very very easy to get the bus. Everywhere, all the time.

I'm promising myself not to get the bus anywhere that I can walk to in half an hour or less.

It all counts. And I'm feeling very very bad about this weekend.

Of course if I stopped eating cake that would count too.

This is the second blog I've blogged today. The other is here: confitdecanard.wordpress

It may only be your second blog; but I enjoyed it very much. Its sincere and that comes out throughout the text. Please do keep them coming and although a hot tub may be a wonderful dream; depending on where you reside in the U.K. there may well be better alternatives to fulfil your dream. Have a wonderful day! emoticon

The last time I came to London in September last year (I try to visit at least once a year - I bloody love our capital) me and my boyfriend vowed to not use the tube. Our hotel was at County Hall and we walked everywhere. And I mean EVERYWHERE. It was good to see where everything is in relation to every thing else - every other time I visited it was like travelling through wormholes in darkness and randomly popping up in disconnected places. It was my best trip there yet and I doubt I will ever go back to tube hopping.

I am not a good cook myself, but one can always be lazy (my middle name) and purchase a pre-made crust. I'm glad your quiche tasted wonderful anyway. Hope the rest of your week is great.

No worries on the eating! Rice salad sounds pretty good to me. :) We all have those recovery meals that get us back on track after letting loose a bit, and I like the sound of yours!

It IS sad how many people don't have easy access to either a gym or a safe outdoor exercise environment. I'm too cheap to join a gym, but I'm lucky enough to live in an area with plenty of relatively quiet roads for jogging/walking/biking along. I am very grateful for that!

I can't afford a gym and the one nearest me does not have a pool anyway. There is a pool in the park where I live, but it's open only in the summer and is full of wild children.

Still, I should get off my lazy butt and do something!

Love your floral background. Don't be too hard on yourself. We all mess up from time to time. You are doing what is important. Get back to your plan. I hope your rice salad is not a punishment for you. Thank you for sharing. We all have something to learn here.

Don't kick yourself, and try looking at the week's calories and see if you were as bad as you think. Doesn't mean you should do it again, only just forgive yourself and get back to your healthy eating. Everyone eats cake SOMETIMES!!!

Everyone needs to splurge once in a while. As long as you get back on track today don't beat yourself up over it. I love to walk in the rain. Don't let that stop you. Put on your rain coat and grab an umbrella if you are so inclined and hit the trails. The follage smells great in the rain and everything is so clean, You make me want to do that right now, but alas, no rain in the desert.

I liked both your blogs. Got a chuckle out of the cooking disaster (sorry to laugh and your problem) I like crustless quiche, which I started making when my son became gluten intolerant. It has less calories and if you prepare your pie plate correctly it doesn't even stick... can't imagine decorating with catsup, but each to her own! I am frequently jealous of all your lovely trails, although we have quite a few here too. I have to drive to get to them. There are gyms but I haven't joined one, just use my DVDs at home. I thank you for the chuckle and wish you a very light and lovely week!!!
