10k, new goal, new focus

Well, I "ran" my first 10K last weekend! My partner organized it with her work, and it was a fundraiser for Duchenne's Syndrome (her boss' son has it). It was totally fun! It was a trail run, so there was a lot of terrain and up and down hills. I walked the "uphill" parts - and think I ran about 3/4ths of the race and walked the rest. We ran through a little village and a lot of farm land. We saw lots of cows and the first flowers of spring!

I came in dead last! haha. I consider it a public service, really.... someone has to do it!! :-)
I did it in 90 minutes. Not to shabby for my first 10K - with a pretty rough terrain and walking the uphills!

New goal ----
I reached my first goal, which was 149 lbs - putting me in the "normal" BMI range, but at the top. So I've decided to set a new goal - 140 lbs. This will put me squarely in the middle of "normal" I've decided to dedicate the entire summer on these 9 lbs - because I want to focus on strength training and building much more muscle. (I just did some push ups and yesterday I did an ab exercise - ouchie today).

I'm still going to be running, and working up my endurance to be able to run a full 10K without breaks - and doing interval training to work up my speed.... but I'm going to focus more on strength training on my off-days.

I also need to get back to tracking my food. I am back to "guessing" how many calories I am eating, and I want to make this more precise. I also want to focus (and see on paper) on eating healthier foods and much more greens.

    Kelly - Impressive RUN! WOW! Who cares if you were dead last your finished and you came in ahead of all the people that never started the race! Well Done. Great Cause too! emoticon

    Yahoo! Awesome job in the 10K and weight so far Kelly! I ran my first 5K last weekend and it was fun! Right now I'm just continuing to train for more 5K's since I'm not sure I'm ready for more than that yet. That's so awesome you've reached your weight loss goal and set another--and good point about taking the summer to complete it! Get it girl!
