To Track or not to Track?

This week I lost 2.6 pounds and although it would have been nice to lose six like I did my first week, that's unrealistic. I've decided though, if I can keep a two pound a week weight loss I'm not going to track my food. I'll just eat mindfully. I do know a bit about nutrition so my weight gain didn't come from not knowing pine nuts were high in calories, it came from eating not one but a whole pack of Pepperidge Farm cookies in a day. I figure if I can stop that and concentrate on healthy food I can skip the food tracking.

That's what I'll do for now, however I will start tracking exercise. Exercise for me is the key to weightloss more than anything. Food tracking is time consuming and tedious, I'll do it if I have to but I have enough to do without adding that chore to my day.

    I have never been able to track my food more than one day because it gets too tedious, and adds to my stress! I track exercise and am like you with the idea of mindful eating. I know it's recommended and helpful etc etc I just accept it doesn't work for me! I do know what to eat and how much but often choose to over do it!

    I have tried tracking many, many, many times, but always give up a few days in. I know how it has helped lots of people, but I get frustrated.

You seem to be doing well so stay strong and go for it!!!

    I know studies show it works, but I also know the times I lost weight and was stable for awhile were times when I was exercising regularly and making a conscious decision to eat healthy food in small portions.

I'm going to not track unless I don't lose two pounds a week. If I don't, I'll track the next week. This might change as I get closer to goal weight, but when really heavy, it's just not that hard to lose.

I find tracking beneficial, only because it helps be to be mindful! I hope to one day be able to get away from tracking all together, but for now...I track. Good Luck!

    I find tracking not only food but exercise essential! You know where you are each day. I know it can be tedious, but it is worth it.

I find food tracking tedious as well, but it's so easy to cheat.
the less motivated I am, the more I track. but not tracking on paper, just in my mind, also works for me when I get serious about losing.
