Re-committed to the path I already know

Sunday, May 05, 2013

Well, I've decided enough of this floundering around. I know what has worked for me in order to lose almost 80 pounds, so I just need to do what I did before instead of looking for some other miracle cure.

So today I started a commitment to 10 minutes of daily exercise, and a personal 10 day challenge with two goals--no eating sweets and no eating outside of meals. I feel like this will get me back on track and provide the motivation I need.

I also plan to work on the emotional eating side with a program I already have, with journaling and mental exercises. I will also commit to daily scripture study and prayer. No more procrastination. No more distractions. This is my life and I'm looking to God to give me the love and support he has always promised.

Thanks to all you Sparkers, for your support as well!

I like your goals and plan to steal them. A 10 day challenge should be manageable of no sweets and no eating outside of my meals. That will eliminate a lot of the sneaky calories. Thanks and good luck.

Good for you! Sometimes, the hard part is realizing that you have to keep doing what works.

I know where you are. I've recommitted myself after losing about 30 pounds and gaining it back a couple of times. Like you I know what has worked for me in the past. I know how much better I felt about myself mentally as well as feeling better physically. I don't think anyone can tell us anything about losing weight tat we don't already know. it's just a matter of putting it into practice and doing it consistently. I don't know why that part seems so difficult, but then I guess it's only as hard as I make it. I get off to a good start then it seems to fall apart after that initial boost of motivation. I have to find some way to keep my motivation level up after the initial phase. Maybe my problem is that I try to do everything myself, and I don't turn to God enough. He has promised that with him, nothing is impossible. Maybe I need to put more focus there and the rest will take care of itself. Thanks for you blog. It's a nice little reminder for me.

Good for you Madre! The key to long term effective weight loss is calories out vs calories in! An ideal diet consists of lean protein, healthy fats in moderation, minimal sugar and complex carbs. (or you could just become a vegan *wink) I don't have to tell you, but I will anyway, there is no miracle cure. Weight loss takes hard work, dedication and self control. You are doing great and will continue to do great! Stay positive and feel free to call anytime!

P.S. Maybe you should start chewing gum on your way home from work.
