Last Sunday I ran the Drake relays (Hy-vee roadraces) half marathon and I PR'd by 15 minutes. with 2:43:06 this is super encouraging heading into the race I have been focusing on. I ran this half as a training run for my race on May 18th so I didn't taper in fact I still did my squat challenge squats on the Friday before. The other thing that is encouraging is the course I will be running on the 18th is flatter so unlike Drake where the hills got to me around mile 10 I should be able to keep pushing through. I have a goal of 2:30 which would be another monster but I think if conditions are right, legs are better rested, and the course doesn't throw in any unexpected hills I should be pretty close.
