a new number

Sunday, May 05, 2013

I have been steady and secure with my number for awhile now, so happy to be in the 60s and not the 70s for a change. 263 on April 1. Finally 262 this morning's weigh in. I am glad I leveled out for a month, it made the change real and secure. I was ready to start a downward trend again though.

I got really sick again, this is #3 since mid-Feb. I am seeing the doctor tomorrow, it will be day nine and no sign of improvement. I do not want to be back on antibiotics for the third time, I just want to know what is wrong with me. The only change in my environment is a smoking neighbor, and the stink of it permeates the entire building. It is amazing how we all smell that stench, and she cannot smell it. I despise that stench.

The rule here says you can smoke only in your unit and not in the hallways. This is helpful, but when you live across the hall from a smoker in a building with small units for disabled and elderly, it really isn't enough at all. You would think that state facilitated apartments would have a 'no smoking at all' policy. I did complain and I was asked if she smoked in the hall, and since she doesn't, it is her personal space and she can pollute it any way she wants. If I do not want the smell, I need an air purifier, and those get more expensive as you buy ones that actually work. Here I am, working so hard to eat healthier and get healthier, and someone else is poisoning me. A bit dramatic, but still true.

I would complain to the building management. Studies show secondhand smoke IS dangerous, and you may be feeling the brunt of it with your increased number of illnesses. If you can smell it, is IS doing some damage. emoticon
