How much worse can things get??

Sunday, May 05, 2013

I read an article this morning in the Sunday news - and I wonder with this sort of thing how the obesity epidemic can ever be reduced!! I honestly think this is disgusting - and am really happy its 2230km (1387miles) away from here I live!!

Dieticians warn it has 2.6 times an adult's recommended daily energy intake and contains some 400g of fat.

That is just ridiculous! The world should wise up and ban food like this! That guy on Man VS Food on the Travel Channel is going to die of a heart attack one day, if he keeps up with those food challenges! emoticon

Yuk. Plain and simple. But it is glorified, so many places here in the US have a 'if you can eat it all in so many minutes, its free' kind of challenge. The show Man vs Food is all about that same guy doing the challenges.
For me, i don't get it, let me pay for a smaller meal that won't make me sick later. :)

Eww!! Just looking at the blog picture nauseated me and reading the article it is scary what people do to themselves with food.

In the US, there are TV shows that celebrate this kind of excess, weekly.

Best to stick to one's own "knitting", and ignore this toxic drivel.

All I can say is WOW! I've seen things like this in some restaurants that have contests for folks to force themselves to eat these monstrocities. WOW! I'm so grateful that I've been enlightened and am eating healthy. I'm grateful for friends like you who are like-minded. Bright blessings to you my friend. emoticon

I wouldn't consider eating it because it looks gross. It doesn't bother me that some choose to participate in a challenge for a few minutes of fame on a restaurant wall. They aren't eating 22,800 calories a day. It's unlikely they do it more than once after they realize they paid $35 for a burger that they likely couldn't finish or struggled to keep down. Food eating contests are not new. There's usually a pie eating contest at summer fairs. The bigger problem is restaurants who server entrées that are large enough for at least two reasonable meals and often contain surprising high fat ingredients like whipping cream in cole slaw. I think that is the cause of the obesity epidemic.

The 'dagwood' style sandwich. Why would you want to eat it except on a dare. I really cannot handle those tv shows about food gluten contests. Every thing about it is just wrong. Why knowingly abuse your digestion system. Over time you will wreck it, then what are you going to do?

Oh EWWWWW just looking at it turns my stomach let alone the thought of eating a part of it. With this kind of stuff in the public eye its no wonder obesity is one of the largest epidemics in the world today! Not to mention any idiot that put that in their body would stretch their stomach to the breaking point and be dead sick from all that disgusting unhealthy nutrition. I'm keep a copy of the blog to read when I get cravings, just looking at it puts me off my chump for sure!

That is just gross. I couldn't even eat one layer of that fat loaded monstrosity that they call food.
It's terrible what some restaurants will go to to drum up more business.
I have a hard enough time keeping my weight down by eating normal, sensible foods.
    Take care

I most likely couldn't even eat a small bite of it. Good grief! I remember seeing a story on the Food Network about a lady who goes all over the US to eat in food eating contests. She and her husband walk a lot and their "normal" eating foods look like a rainbow of veggies! She is very tiny and when it showed her in a contest, it was difficult to imgine she could win, but she did.

wow. or should I say ugh !! that is totally gross.....I can well imagine that there are some super macho types out there who think they can do anything and will do anything on a dare....but even most of those could not polish that thing off....five minutes.....he must have swallowed it whole......that is just gross..

Hm...there are some types of men who could take that on: huge linebackers after hours of practice who are about 6 feet 7, and almost just as wide.

Otherwise, Oof! I'd think you'd be pretty sick eating that much fat! Probably need an entire bottle of the pink stuff (Bismuth Subsalicylate a.k.a. Pepto-Bismol).

It reminds me a lot of those challenges in some of the restaurants. Who can eat a 10lb pizza. Amazing that people even try!! I agree, with this stuff, how can we beat obesity.
