Bit of catch up

Saturday, May 04, 2013

Oops, forgot to come back here yesterday and post my goal updates.

May Goals (May 3, yesterday)
+ At least one mindful meal a day.
- Food log.
+ No bingeing.

May Goals (May 4, today)
+At least one mindful meal a day.
+ Food log.
- No bingeing.

Sigh. Ok well, I kind of know why I binged this morning. I was feeling really indecisive and anxious about whether or not I should go on run (I ended up skipping it) and time constraints in general. I started to zone out and browse the internet while I was eating breakfast and that turned into a binge.

Staying Positive.

+ I didn't go out to buy more binge food by telling myself I shouldn't make it worse and refusing to leave my apartment.

+ When I got hungry for lunch made sure to be mindful this time.

+ I still felt vulnerable after lunch so I texted my classmate and asked if he was going to be on campus today at all. He said he was going to be soon, so I said I was too, and went to my office, where I said he could join me. We worked from 2-6pm pretty seriously, including talking about some math (we work in separate areas so I basically have no idea what he does even though we're both under the broad field of "geometry"). That really made me feel good and it helped me to focus to have a study buddy.

+ I was feeling vulnerable AGAIN after working, but this one was weird. I could tell I was physically hungry this time from my growling stomach and the kind of empty feeling, but I could not think of anything I really wanted to eat. So weird. I ended up guessing something I might want to eat and got take-out Greek food, which was good once I started eating. This meal too I made sure to eat mindfully.

+ Post-dinner I started having serious sweets cravings and presently have nothing around to satisfy them. I just brute-force resisted the cravings and the urge to go out and buy some sweets and came here to write this entry.

+ I found out this morning that I won a goodie bag from my school's recreation department for posting a picture of myself doing a favorite healthy activity (my picture was of me sitting in a little indentation I'd climbed up to at a rock in Joshua Tree)!

Keeping track helps, even if it's just to reflect on all the positive points.
