Great works are performed not by strength ,but perseverance." Samuel Johnson

I was extra tired today .One reason is my pacemaker is winding done and it is getting time to change the battery . The other reason is women issues.

My husband had plans to go deep sea fishing last night. He got up at 1am to leave for the trip. Guess who woke up with him. Luckily I was able to go back to sleep .Unluckily he was back home before I left for the grocery store at 8 am .

His trip to fill the freezer with fresh fish caught out on the ocean was derailed by high winds and high seas. He and his friends drove three hours to get there bought snacks and beer . Now they are planning on a make up trip on Mothers Day.

One the bright side I was able to get some fresh fruits and veggies at the grocery store. Although I didn't get a walk in today I sure did a lot of walking around the grocery store looking for healthy foods.

Then I treated myself to a haircut and dye. My last cut was January so boy do I feel lighter and renewed and a little bit energized.

In the middle of the day we went to a local farm . They have acres of plants, veggies, and shrubs. More walking was done here as it was hard to decide what to buy,so much variety. We bought marigolds to border the garden and attract the bees. We bought more swiss chard my favorite. Three different kinds of lettuce . We bought eggplant for the garden. I found a few tomato plants called yellow pear drops . They grow eighteen inches , we put them in pots on the front steps .It is a little early for tomato's to be in the garden because of frost but I can bring them in because they are potted.
Also in some pots on the front steps are basil, chives ,rosemary and a cute pineapple mint plant I found, you can use the leaves to make tea. We got all that for under 45 dollars and helped a local farmer out as well. In a week or two we will return for pepper, cucumber, tomato, green beans and squash plants. Who knows what other plants we will find.

Although I am not exercising today I am working on my food intake. I made two healthy desserts. Or should I say healthier desserts. One is pineapple angel food cake yum. The other is brownies mix and pumpkin with a little bit of coconut spread on the top. No oil, eggs or sugar was in either dessert.

So whether you work out or not, whether you eat home or out,or grow your own,it is possible to make good food choices and lose weight. Remember if you mess up , we had hamburgers for supper ,it is what you eat all week ,and the movement you make ,that decides your weight loss. My husband sure did burn a lot of calories hand turning the soil and planting the plants for the garden . I helped out with the low cal desserts. Don't worry with all the wash and dishes and other housework I'll catch him in no time.

Sounds like a great day. Thanks for the suggestions on writing my paper yesterday. It was a little too chilly to be sitting still outdoors yesterday, but I do look forward to the days when I will be able to do my school work outside. Hope that you have a great Sunday! emoticon

Funnily enough I got some lean beefburgers on Friday, grilled them, added them to whole wheat multiseeded baps, a salad and a few chips.
Just fancied it.....or so I thought.............eeeeewwwwwwww, just didn't hit the spot. Haven't had one since I joined SP and got to goal weight (March 2008)....guess my taste buds have changed for the better emoticon

Don't over do it Joanne. Hope you don't mind me asking- how often do you need to get a new battery, my sweet Bionic Woman emoticon

Happy Sunday emoticon

You will be able to enjoy the fruits of your garden
and that way you will know it is fresh. You have done
well with walking and eating well. Good for you.
I hope you have a good changeover with your battery.
I'm off to enjoy a wonderful Easter(Greek Orthodox)
feast with my family today.
"Christ has risen" is what we say. When someone
answers, we say "Truly he has risen".
God bless you Joanne. emoticon
