Well, I was not as sore from my HM last Saturday as I though I'd be - amazingly enough! My upper IT band strain was improving and my last PT session on Thursday was really good. Made one more appointment (thought it would be the last) for next week.
This morning's 10K started out well. I had completed this race as my first 10K last year and was looking forward to besting my time. I was accompanied by the same friend who walked with me last year. We happily came in dead last of the finishers last year. We did not want to do that this year. It was a small group - less than 300 people and the proceeds were going to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.
Patty and I started the race at a slow jog. She is a good deal taller than me and her stride is quite a bit longer... Within 1/4 mile of the start, the course took a downhill through a local dog park. I guess I was over-striding, because I felt a sharp pain in my glut and knew I was in trouble. I slowed down to a walk and that's where I stayed for the remaining 5.95 miles. :(
We still finished the race 4 minutes faster than last year and we weren't last! Hope I don't get too stiff overnight. Bring on the physical therapy on Monday!
