Hey, you're VERY fat!

Saturday, May 04, 2013

So today has been kind of a sucky day. To start it off I let my chickens into the yard so they can do their thing. I walked out the house to check on them when I see a dog running out my yard with one of my chickens in his mouth. The dog looks back at me and drops my chicken. I run to see if she is dead. By the time I get to her she was able to get under my car. At first I thought she was missing a leg. Honestly, I wanted to cry. I have become very attached to them. I even refer to them as my babies. I couldnt reach her because of my arms. Some how I was able too. The next thing I knew she looked at me and dropped her head to the ground! Now I REALLY wanted to cry. I picked her up and she woke up. She started to look at me and tried to walk but she was limping. Thats when I noticed that she did indeed have both her legs! She is still alive, I didnt see any blood on her but that doesnt mean there isnt internal damage. She is very weak and in shock. I hope she makes it!

I went to walmart today to pick up a few things. Well I was just minding my own business when a kid walks up to me and says "Hey, You are VERY fat!" The parents laughs and they both walk off. I was kind of stunned. I didnt know what to say or think. Just been a bummer kind of day! I hope all of you are well! God Bless!

So sorry to hear about your chicken! I hope she's feeling better now. I've always thought having a coop would be really neat.

Sometimes kids say the worst things because they are young and haven't developed a filter for manners yet. My oldest is almost four and is just starting to pick up on differences between people. She'll tell me "You have a big belly" (yeah, that one stung a bit) or say out loud "He is really old!" but not because she's trying to be mean, but because she is finally noticing the world around her how it relates and differs to her. This gives me the opportunity to teach her that everyone is made differently and the difference between good manners and bad manners. I tell her, "Wouldn't it be boring if everyone looked the same?" The parent may have laughed out loud out of embarrassment, or at least I hope so. I'm not making excuses for the kid, especially if they were over 5 and should know better, but you can blame it on their small, immature brains.

One thing I tell myself when I hear insensitive remarks from people is that everyone has something they want to hide, I just happen to wear mine for everyone to see. What they see is the worst it can get, and I can only get better. Imagine how dark their secrets are when allowed to fester inside! People say mean things to make themselves feel better.

Keep your chin up and one foot in front of the other. Look how far you've already come. You are amazing, plain and simple!

That mean little kid! Hard to believe that this sort of comment was amusing to his parents, who were maybe Neanderthals. It is that kind of ingrained prejudice that makes life sadder for anyone in any minority. AARGH. That kid needed a very long time out.

The chicken. I hope she lives a bit longer and proves to be hearty once she calms down.

OK I am sorry but the first thing I would have said to that child was...."And you're very ugly" And then looked at his parents that laughed then back at the kid and said, "Sorry buddy...things wont be looking any better in the future either."

HAHA sorry yes that's cruel and maybe a fantasy reply, because I probably would have been stunned by the event but OHHHH wouldn't that just get them?

I am sorry about your chicken. I am so attatched to my dog I couldn't imagine. I have a 12 pound terrier and he was attacked by a pitbull once and he pulled through. I hope she is ok. Also dont worry about that kids parent. Give it 5 or so years when that kid is a teenager the parents that didnt raise him properly will reap what they sow. Sounds like he is already out of control.

emoticon I hope your chicken is okay now! How rude of that child - what a rude and unpleasant little boy. As a parent I would not tolerate any of my children being so appalling nasty - they would be severely upbraided! emoticon

Man, you did have a rough day. I am so sorry. Please let us know how your chicken is doing. As for the family in the store...forgive the little kid...he does not know any better and is to be pitied. His parents are doing a horrible job and someone someday will teach that child manners. Let's hope he does not hurt as much as you are today. emoticon

Hey James please don't let some young disturbed kid bring you down! He is obvisously a troubled kid, if he can go up to a perfect stranger and say something like that. There however is know excuse for the parents, they should have apologized for the way that kid acted. I felt sorry for the kid, because really think what or what not he is being taught. I am sorry you had to hear that. You are a handsome dude and are doing awesome. Keep up the good work.

Sorry to hear about your chicken. Hope he is doing ok now! Keep your chin up! emoticon

I hope your chicken is doing fine. that kid and his parents are @$$es! People should learn to keep their comments to themselves. They were rude and insensitive, but you were a gentleman and kept your response to yourself. Keep up the fantastic work you are doing with your weight loss. You are awesome!

I hope your chicken is okay - sorry you had to run into an insensitive idiot while out shopping. It's hard to come up with a comeback in times like that. All that matters is that you know you're trying and working on yourself. That ignorant kid has no idea who you are or how wonderful you are. The fact that his parents weren't mortified and didn't make him apologize immediately tells us a lot, doesn't it? They could teach "How to Raise a Criminal 101". Hold your head high and know you are very worthwhile. Pat

Sorry to hear about your chickens, but what is worse is the way those people treated you. Don't let those "shallow" people dictate your value because you are a wonderful person. Shallow parents raising a shallow child-they must lead sad lives. You, however, are living a fulfilled and giving life. Continue to work on being healthy and kind and concentrate on that.

Great parenting obviously the parent is an ignorant jerk and their child is following in their foot steps. I have had more than my fair share of incidents like that over the course of my life so I feel your pain.

Don't let it get you down, keep your goals in mind and keep on trucking!

WOW! I would be upset too! I love all animals and my pets have all been my babies!
That kids parents should be ashamed of themselves! I have had a similar thing happen to me! I am disabled and I use a mobility scooter. One day when I was out riding, I young guy in a fancy car was mad because I was crossing the street. He yelled , "get out of the street you fat pig!" I was horrified! But then I realized it was his problem not mine! Hope you have a better day tomorrow and hope your chicken is okay! emoticon

I read once that a woman replied to a similar comment that God made her that way because He gave her a big heart because she was a very loving person.

Seriously, it is so sad the parents laughed instead of asking their child to apologize. Since you can't control them, all you can do is control your response. And by their actions, i am positive you have a much bigger heart than they do! emoticon

I feel so bad that you had to go through all that...People can be sooo mean, I know..I can't stand the fat prejudice in this world...I once cried all day because an old man insulted me in church! I wish I would've had a good comeback..but I was so shocked...I stopped going to that church because I didn't want to even look at him again!! We just have to try and ignore the ignorance in this world...and focus our time on the positives...Stay strong, keep sparking, and keep smiling...Hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow...God knows how special you are! emoticon emoticon
