My oldest grandson just turned 5 years old. In January of this year, he began to have some swelling issues in his face and neck. My daughter took him to the doctor and they popped him right into the hospital. He was in the hospital until about 3 weeks ago. He was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called FSGS. It involves scarring of the kidneys and they do not function properly. The doctors tried various methods of trying to prompt the kidneys to function as they should but it has not happened. He currently is receiving dialysis 3 times a week. Because his kidneys are still trying and failing, they have decided that his kidneys must come out. The surgery to remove his kidneys is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8th. My DS is undergoing testing to donate one of his kidneys to my grandson, his nephew. They anticipate this surgery taking place in July. My daughter, my grandson's mom, is currently pregnant - due in June - for her 4th boy. The other 2 boys are ages 3 and 18-months. Talk about a busy household! They are all doing well despite the crazy winter it has been. If you think of them this Wednesday, please pray! Thanks!
This is one of my favorite pictures of Taylor!
