Today is day 24 of my current streak!
For a long time now, I've been doing the bare minimum needed in order to keep my streak going. I have exercised every day.....but I haven't pushed myself to workout harder. I have tracked my food and stayed within my calories....but I have not always eaten HEALTHY food, and I've been eating at the highest end of my calories. So of course, I've been at a plateau for a long, long time.
One thing that I am proud of, though, is that even when I have gone completely off track and had to start my streak over (and over, and over) I didn't give up. One bad day didn't snowball into a bad week or month. I always got back on track the very next day. But even when I was on track, I had stopped putting forth my very best effort.
That changed this week, though. Beginning on Monday, I forced myself to start pushing harder. Not only tracking my food, but also making sure that the food I ate was as healthy as possible. Not just going through the motions with my workouts, but really giving it 100%.
So all last week, I worked hard. I started doing cardio (which I hate) in addition to my other workouts. I pushed myself to do more with my strength training and yoga. My cardio workout is from this DVD;
The DVD has 3 workouts on it but the one I've been doing is "Fat Burning." Its a fun workout, and I actually kind of enjoy it! It really gets my heart rate up, and I'm nice and sweaty when I finish! The workout is 30 minutes long and so far I have not been able to do the entire 30 minutes at once. But in just one week, I've improved! The first time I did the workout, (on Monday) I could barely make it through 18 minutes before I'd have to pause, rest, and then finish! But this morning, I made it to 22 minutes before I had to stop! I know if I stick with it, I will soon be able to do the entire 30 minutes without stopping.
It feels so good to be on track and really doing my best. This month is off to a great start, and I am determined to keep the momentum going!
