Taking the plunge with some new appliances!

Saturday, May 04, 2013

I've been putting this off for a while now, but I've finally decided to splurge on some kitchen appliances. I'm calling this an investment in my health:

First, I've been wanting to try juicing... but my kitchen is far, far too small for a bulky juicer... or so I thought. I've finally found a mini juicer that is high-quality and small enough to fit in my tiny apartment kitchen!

Link on Amazon:

(look how tiny it is!)

Now I will be able to use up my extra vegetables in a delicious, anti-inflammatory micronutrient brew. Soooo happy! This will make such an easy, healthy breakfast when I'm short on time (perhaps paired with a couple hard-boiled eggs and a handful of berries).

Also, I've wanted to try the zucchini pasta thing. I love spaghetti squash (it's my go-to veggie pasta), but now that zucchini is nearly in season I thought it would be fun to mix things up... but, again, i didn't have room for one of those giant slicer/spiralers in my kitchen. So I found this:

Link on Amazon:

It's so cute, and it fits in my kitchen drawer!

Zucchini "pasta," here I come!

I'm so glad I finally took the plunge with these new appliances.. can't wait til they get here!

Today's brunch: sweet potato, spinach, apple, sausage, and onion hash with an over-easy egg on top, and a bunch of blueberries and strawberries. Yum!

I know what you mean about the size of the juicers. I recently purchased a used one and it is huge.

I had never heard of the mini juicer nor the spiral cutter. Those are very nice. Thanks for sharing.

I'm going to add that hand-held veggie spiralizer to my birthday list! That would be so handy to travel with. I'm always looking for ways to stay on track with my healthy eating when I'm away from home.

Thanks for sharing your neat discoveries!

Those are both so neat! I have a very small house and a tiny kitchen, so i relate to the size of the appliances. Love the idea of the zucchini pasta. I love zucchini. That will probably be a purchase soon. Thanks!

I recently bought the Kitchenaid food processor when it was on as a show stopper {can't afford the full price} it came with a bonus of 650 recipe book
two extra discs plus blades one of which is for making pastry.
I say Hurray for machines that help us to save time and eat healthy.

So cool! I did not know about the mini slicer for ribbons. I might check my local Bed, Bath and Beyond before buying on-line. Do enjoy your new toys! You deserve it. emoticon
