First Snake in the Yard This Season

Saturday, May 04, 2013

While DH was cleaning up outside a snake appeared and started shaking its tail at him. My dog, Lady, was loose and grabbed it and snapped its head off. I didn't even know what was going on because I was inside with a visitor. Then I heard her barking and saw she was playing with something on the ground. She grabbed it and gave it a pitch in the air. Lady is part Lab and part Shepherd and she really likes chasing after creepy, crawly things. Though she has gone after mice and moles before, this may be her first snake. We believe it was some kind of yard snake. Oh, well, lovely beautiful birds yesterday, and now the lower life.

"All creations, great and small, the Lord our God has made them all."

A time for everything and everything in its season.

In Florida, you can have them all year. You have to be mindful, because sometimes the end up in the pool.

We gain an affinity for enjoying the growth of the most beautiful marigolds.....although adders have their place, we needn't invite them to our for asps, the world has a tad too many, especially the human ones, if you ask me :)

I hate snakes, glad you had a dog to get rid of it and that you were in the house not aware.
