I love the weekends and today is all about me!!--well, almost, anyway. I get to have lunch with my best friend today. We have a standing appointment each month, but we didn't get to get together last month because of all of the workshops and trainings I went to and the activities she went to with her grandchildren. That is not what typically happens, or lunch date is pretty sacred to us. Its kind of funny--I will bring home a box of food because we spend between two and three hours there and I simply don't finish eating. I never used to allow myself all of the fun nor to bring food home. I would stay and eat every bite, but thanks to Spark People, I have learned that I don't have to eat everything and that I can--and should--bring food home.
After lunch, I am going to the fitness center. I get to spend as much time there as I like today because I don 't have to go to work the next day. I love that because I get to do all of the exercises I want and I get to swim as long as I want too. When I get done, I get to go in the whirlpool and the sauna for as long as I want as well. I will be nice and warm and stretched and toned when I leave. Again, I love getting to go to the fitness center and it is a real treat to be there as long as I want. This was never something I loved to do before Spark People!! I will also get to see my exercise buddy there--she is so sweet and such an inspiration. I think about her and all she deals with, and that is a special motivation for me. She had a severe stroke and has virtually no use of her right arm and her right leg doesn't function well either. In spite of this, she comes to the fitness center at least every other day and spends a half an hour riding the bike, an hour in the weight room and an hour in the pool. She is amazing and I hope to get her to be a Sparker too. I thank Spark People for getting me to the fitness center and meeting this wonderful gal who is now one of my special friends. What a gift from Spark People!!
This evening, my husband and I are going to see the musical at the high school. Marissa is Glinda, the Good Witch in The Wizard of Oz. She has a beautiful pink gown and it is always such a delight to get to see and hear her perform. It will be fun--their munchkins are kids from the elementary schools out here. We will have a lot of fun at this presentation. Next week, we get to go see The Trouble With Cats that Megan is directing at Playcrafters Barn, one of our local theatres. We take a bottle of water with us and that is satisfying--and nobody has to leave, wait in lines, and miss anything while they are getting refreshments. Micah is going with us, so it will be even more fun having him there too. Again, I thank Spark people for helping me to understand that I am worthy of having fun, and for learning a way to not be compelled to have fattening snacks that are full of empty calories while we are there. The fun is in the show and the company! To top it all off, since I weigh some 160 pounds less than I did before I started losing weight and being a part of Spark People, I fit in the seats better and it is far more comfortable for me.
Thanks a lot, Spark People!! I will have a great day with a lot of thanks to you!
Gentle hugs, one and all!!
