I was right about it being time to go down a pant size. So last Monday I wore my 34 inch waist pants to work. They weren't quite as roomy in the legs as I like, but they were comfortable enough to wear all day. By the end of the week, though, they felt just right and sure enough this morning the scale says I'm down a little more than 1 pound for the week, so I'm pretty happy about that!
I'm still eating about the same amount of calories, but instead of wheat I'm eating carbs that have a lower glycemic index, and I increased the amount of vegetables I'm eating. I also did a couple short low intensity workouts two evenings last week in addition to my usual morning P90X workouts.
Last week was also the second "rest" week for P90X. It focused on lower intensity cardio and stretching. Next week i start phase 3, so it's back to intense strength and cardio. It'll be interesting to see what happens combining that type of fitness routine with the wheat-free thing.
I'm thinking of adding evening walks to my routine. Not fast enough to get my heart rate up to cardio level, but just enough to keep a slow burn going on top of my morning workout. I mostly want to do it because I spend so little time on my feet as it is. I spend so much time sitting that walking almost doesn't feel natural anymore, and that bothers me. I think it makes balance exercises more difficult, too, like when I'm doing Yoga X. So it's something I'd like to work on, maybe starting with once or twice a week depending on when I can fit it in.
