2013.05.04 Weigh In (And yes, I ate out yesterday)

Saturday, May 04, 2013

Earlier this week, I was wondering why I have been stagnating both weight and body fat wise. My eating is far better than it's been in the past. Sure I eat out a bit, but I did when I was below 200 as well (Worse even. We're talking twice a day).

I never ate vegetables when I was fresh out of college, chopped my weight down to 195 and was member of the month where I worked out. I ate tons of chocolate then, again even more than I do now.

My strength workouts were awful back then. Never pushed myself. Maybe benched 40 pounds tops.

**Then it occurred to me. Cardio!**

Back then, I took two step classes a week with the prototypical drill sergeant instructor. She was off the charts tough. On two of the other three days, I would do the exercise bike, but was always pushing to get a few extra .10ths of a mile for each 40 minute session.

These days, I've been using my "cardio" time as warm up for weights and kettlebells

So earlier this week, I decided for May to refocus and reestablish cardio as the main workout (I'll blog about my program Wednesday). The result?

This weeks numbers:

Goal Weight: 195 @ 15%
Jan 1 Weight: 217.8 @ 25%

Last Week: 215.6 @ 24%
This week: 214.6 @ 23% (-1.0 pounds)

But weight (*) there's more.

Anyone who has read my blogs about my scale and BF% knows that when I lose 1-2 pounds in a week, I temporarily gain a percentage of body fat per the scale. This week, I both lost weight AND am down a percent.

**Oh and yes, I ate out yesterday**

Today, I will take a rest day from cardio, probably do walking and core.

As you can tell, I am cautiously optimistic.

- TD Out!

(*) See what I did there?

Excellent Trent! I agree with adding in more cardio - my naturopath swears that you have to mix it up and have a good amount of both - not hours of it, but a solid 20+ of each regularly. Good luck! emoticon

YA!! I love that you keep searching for the key to your success. Enjoy your walk.

EDIT: I'm strangely happy that you didn't change the eating out routine OR your weigh-in day.
