Busy week!

Saturday, May 04, 2013

Wow, what a busy week. I only had enough time to come here and log my food and activity. I've missed my sparking!! But, it was a great week!

My student scored a 100% on the spelling bee pre-test which meant that she qualified to be in the spelling bee! She was awesome!! She made it through to one round of 20 and then entered the tie breaker round where she was eliminated on the third word. She took it all so well and was just happy to be a part of it.

Thursday was Cowboy Day in the 2nd grade which meant we all dressed as cowboys and ate cowboy grub (beans and franks) and we re-enacted the Pony Express. There is a Pony Express station about 10 miles from our school. So, we had a man come in and pretend to be a robber. I was laughing so hard because my second graders were NOT going to give up the mail bag! It was awesome and they gave that bandit a run for his money. Then we sat and sang pioneer songs and learned about why cowboys dressed the way they did.

I had to read the final five chapters of my textbook and then take the final test for one of my classes. I finished that last night and submitted it. Now, I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I did well and passed it. This is the first of the final seven classes that I need for my Master's of Education degree.

Yesterday, I went car shopping and found one that I love! It's a red Toyota Matrix and today, we're going in to officially buy it. Woo hoo!! It will be nice to have my own car again and not have to share with the hubs!

Today is also my oldest daughter's birthday! I can't believe my sweet baby girl is 19. It seems like only yesterday that she was born and now she's 19. I wish I could be with her today!

And finally, one of my second graders is getting baptized today. He made sure to invite me and these are really the events in your students lives that you don't want to miss. He's a sweet kid and I am proud of him for making the choice to be baptized.

So all in all, it was a very busy and productive week! I hope you all have an excellent weekend!

Your week sounds wonderful. Wish I was a fly on the wall during your cowboy class.
Congratulations on your Girls Spelling performance.

I enjoyed your blog very much. Your life is full of wonderful people and experiences. Am I right to guess that you teach 2nd grade, are going to college, and have a family? If so, wow!! emoticon I hope you find time this weekend to relax and happy birthday to your daughter.
