tonight a colleague dropped by my desk on her break and commented on my healthy assortment of food for lunch. I work a permanent night shift, so am always looking for ways to manage my diet and exercise- food is a lot easier for me than movement anyway.. "lunch" tonight was a 9" plate with some baguette slices, 1/3 cup of spinach dip, about 3 cups of veggies ( cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas, carrot sticks, broccoli and cauliflower) a banana and an orange, plus my 24 oz water bottle that I fill 3 times during my shift . sometimes I'll have tea, or some nuts--kind of depends--- She quipped that if I keep eating like this I'll stay young forever. I agree. 40 wasn't bad- 42 was bifocals and orthopedic shoes, 50 wasn't bad either...she cut me off- "you're joking---you're not 50" "no , I'll be 54" she nearly choked, then started doing the math.. I've been nursing 30 years, my daughter is 28.. stands to reason I can't be in my 30's , or even my 40's any more. ..."i never would have guessed"
