First, let me introduce you to Valentino, the male blue bird guarding his mate's nest in our back yard.
And then, my blog:
Spring has really arrived in Virginia now and the last few days have been glorious reminders that new life is returning. I see it everywhere from the leafing of our birch trees—and every other kind for that matter—the vigilant bluebird who is on “high alert” near our birdhouse obviously protecting a nest, and in the return of my son from a wilderness semester in Wyoming.
So it’s time for a fresh “take” on life. Last week I ran to the nursery to buy some new annuals for my garden, named "our" bluebird “Valentino,” for being so loyal and vigilant, and embraced my son at the airport after his three month trek in Wyoming and Utah. Last night I stayed up late listening to his stories and trying to see and hear as much as I could of my young man returned.
From Spring and all of this newness I realize how precious seasons are. This one reminds me that I too grow and thrive as the days get longer and brighter. So I am paying attention and stepping a little quicker. Hurrah, it is Spring! So great to be alive!
PS Valentino is perched on top of our wind gauge. Just in case you were wondering...
