Sometimes you need to slow down.

Life can be hectic sometimes. I know all about it -- I live in one of the most fast-paced & stressful areas in the U.S. Everyone is in a hurry & no one is ever home. It can be exhausting . . . if you let it.

After having breast cancer, I decided it was time to slow down & enjoy life more. One of the hardest things for me to learn to do was to say "no" to people in my life who wanted me to commit to something that would add more to my already full schedule. A lot of people don't understand. All they see is that we don't have kids & we should have plenty of time to do "their" agenda.

What makes you happy?

Challenge: Slow down & smell the roses today. Take 10 minutes & do something just for you -- something you enjoy that you have put on the back burner for a long time.

Additional challenge: Find out what makes you happy & do more of it starting today.

Blessings to you!! emoticon emoticon

I've been finding out lately just how hard it is to say no, and just how many people don't understand.

Great idea, I am going to give it a try. I am really trying to focus on slowing down so I can enjoy my life. Learning to tell other people no (especially when your plate is already full) is also a great help.

We all tend to do for others and leave ourselves to the end thus having little spare time to do self care. It is a learning curve we all need to work with! Great blog!!

  This is goo advice.

I'm glad that you came to this conclusion to actually savor and enjoy your life. it does seem that sometimes; it's that sort of health problem to wake us up.

I'm also wondering where your one of the busiest community is... because here in Silicon Valley ( South Bay ), it is ridiculous how busy people are. Like the jokes about rat races.

I mean it can take you weeks and months to get together with someone. How many times have I considered having a dinner or bar-b-q or dinner with a potential fried. We finally get together and they are moving.it's not much better with actual friends.

Sometimes life is such that one can't slow down, which is the situation I am in right now. But it is always good to try to keep things in perspective, and I do always try to do a little rose-smelling along the way. Thanks for the blog!
