Fresh Start

As part of joining Sparkcoach (my 3 months free subscription as part of pre-ordering the spark solution), I have decided to write my first blog. I have also been reading a few other blogs lately and have been enjoying all the great ideas that people have!

As well as starting a few new things, I have also decided it was time for a fresh start. I am looking at doing a little bit each day, using the daily streaks idea to keep me motivated. A few of things that I am hoping to acheive:
- be more active each day (and definitely be more active while I watch some of my fave tv shows)
- keep up to date with all of my professional development reading requirements (I am a hospital pharmacist)
- start to tackle some of the jobs around the house that I have been putting off for a long time (e.g. scrapbooking projects, organising photos)
- keep the house in general just a little bit tidier (namely, putting away clothes, dishes, general clutter) and slowly get rid of some items that I don't need (to either charity or the bin)

Hopefully, by doing a little bit each day I will feel more motivated to keep going! I will also try to not let exercise slip to the bottom of my to do pile like I usually do.

If anyone else is doing anything similar, I would love to share tips and stories.

    I think meeting up would be a great inspiration. Unfortunately I don't think I will be in Toowoomba for the Carnival weekend, but the flowers are still beautiful for a few weeks either side emoticon I'm definitely interested if we can get a group of people to meet up, I'm sure there must be plenty more Sparkies in the area!

    I think it would be great to have a bit of a SP Ralley catch up one day this year somewhere in SE Qld if there is enough interest, Is it something you would be interested in doing?
In Towoomba for the flowers would be a great excuse for me to finally get there at that time emoticon

    Thanks for the support guys! Wunmura, you are a great inspiration. And I am amazed that it is such a small world...I currently live in Toowoomba, so it sounds like I'm not far from you. If you can get up early in the cold, windy mornings I have no excuses!
I also love your tip about standing and sitting while reading. Will definitely give it a try. emoticon

    i can relate to much of what you wrote.
I first joined SP in December 2009 but did not really do much at all.
In March 2010 I said yes to working for a 3 month stint back where I used to prior to moving to Qld in late 2008.
I am still working interstate so my weeks consist of sitting at a desk for most of my 36 work hours - sitting in a car for just over an hour each week day to get to and from where i stay for the work week in NSW and then on Friday afternoons and Sunday or Monday sitting in a car for another 5-6 hours each way to spend my weekends at home in Qld.
I have started to stand and move around much more at work to get my activity level up. I park further from my destinations and walk briskly to them. I get up at 4.30 am to 5 am on a week day morning to fit in a Curves workout before work.
I try to make as much activity as I can around my domestic chores. And have tried to schedule in at least 1 of the jobs I have been avoiding each week.
To keep up with the reading for work (and personal research interests) and still get in some activity I have started to stand and sit at least 3 times a page - just to make sure I move. I have gotten better at doing it without loosing my place on the page.
So far the changes (and the counting food and fitness) has seen me drop 20 kilograms in the last 6 months.
I am loving the changes and am looking forward to each new goal along the journey to an as fit and healthy me as is possible for me to achieve. emoticon
