Well it's been a couple weeks since I got back from Cuba, but it's been busy. Getting back into work AND working out has come slower than it should have. That is probably due to the fact that I didn't go to the gym/run on the beach while I was down there. I planned to but kind of discounted the humidity. I honestly don't think I would've made it on a run on the beach, it was hard to even walk the beach for 10 minutes without getting burned...Overall excellent trip though, Ryan enjoyed his first time out of the country, finally getting to see life outside our prosperous Canada.
Things ARE looking up fitness-wise though. Ryan said he wouldn't let me run another step without a brace so he bought me one. We got a pretty sturdy one just in case my knee is worse than I think. It started falling apart the first time I put it on but it's from Wal Mart and you can basically return things for years after you buy them so I decided to try it out for a few runs anyway. It works SO GOOD! I've been using it 3 times a week for the last 2 weeks and my knee hasn't hurt at all! I wish it wasn't falling apart because I really like it haha. But I also think that it's a bit too much for me. The first time I used it I tried to keep it on while I used the recumbent bike and it wasn't going to happen, I couldn't even bend my leg! So When I return it I think I'll just get a little sleeve brace instead and see if that works as well.
Today I ran 3 1/2 miles, the most at one time in months. That's kind of sad considering I was planning to be up to 10 miles or so by now but oh well. It felt good to run that long and I could've done longer for sure. Tomorrow Ryan and I are going for our first outdoor run (one of his only runs ever actually!) and to do the stairs by the river valley. We're pumped but I hope so many stairs doesn't flare up my injury.
After our run is the KENTUCKY DERBY PARTY! My mom gathers everyone she knows at a local gamlbing bar for each of the major horse races in the Spring and we all chill and bet haha. Great times are ahead!
Love when I have Saturdays off!
