The Hero's Half 1/2 marathon on Sunday was harder and easier than I thought.
There were bomb sniffing dogs. Yay puppies! And boo that we needed them and that I can't pet them.
There was a LOT of blue and yellow. Yay for all the fundraising accoutrement out there trying to do good. And boo that we need such things.
And because this race is in honor of our military and 1st responders, there was a LOT of uniforms. Actually...that was pretty much all yay!
And while I loathe to admit it, for the first time ever, I was last.
The best part? The sweep van was driven by a very cute and very sweet uniformed man that checked on me a couple times during the last few miles.
It started normal, but then he started doing things like offering me candy if I got in his van. He wondered allowed towards the end how I could pass up hopping in such a sweet ride. All the laughter got me through all my hurting.
And, of course, I got the sniffles several times. And while I blame allergies, they weren't the problem every time.
All in all, a very good tough day.
