I usually blog about how terribly unsuccessful I am at getting smaller (losing weight, inches, however you want to characterize it).
However, today I'm going to blog about something I did well:
I graduated in from law school in 2012 and I'm working for a company, so the pace at which I learn and am exposed to the real practice of law is slow. We had a headache of a case. The litigator here asked me to jump on and do some research for him. Intuitively, we thought this case was going to be a slam dunk. Lesson #1: Expect the unexpected.
The judge surprisingly was leaning against our argument, and asked us to write something call a "sur-response".
Long story short, I did the research, I wrote the response, AND WE WON! Now that doesn't mean we won the case, but it really sets us up for winning once we establish some facts.
(Which will fall right into line because we obviously have the documentation to support it).
So basically... I HELPED WIN THE FIRST CASE I EVER WORKED ON. Of course, because I'm new, I don't get any real credit at my company. It was being overseen by our litigator, and everything was drafted in his name. He made the argument. I sat and watched....
but I did it :)
Happy Happy Friday!!!!
