Liquid is good

I have discovered two things:
1. I am a northern girl and quite proud of it
2. I need to be careful in heat
I went to Disney for vacation. I drank water... honestly. I still ended up in the ER at the end of the day with severe dehydration. I think I had heat stroke, but they never diagnosed me with it. (It also took 3.5 hours for someone to see me...)
I've never been a big fan of sports drinks. I thought most of them were a waste of money and calories. Now I know they can be your best friend when the weather gets hot and steamy. Every time I felt "funny," I chugged back some PowerAde, and I actually felt a little better. (The ride on Mission Space was probably not the best idea... but that's another story.)
Since I've come back home, I've been really good about watching my liquid intake. I'm also stopping to check in with my body about how it feels. Do I feel warm? Is my mouth or throat dry? Little things like that to get me back in balance.
As the commercial says, "Stay thirsty my friends!"
