Pushing myself!

Today I ran the neighborhood route, twice! I must clarify that my six hills are various sizes, with some that are more like an incline, but feel like a "hill" when I run! I walk the big ones.

My morning run was about pushing myself. I've talked to enough runners, in person and here, that I added some sprints to the flat today. I went fast and my "normal." I went slow up the small hills and stopped for a few seconds when I needed to. I'm trying to listen to my body and it was talking this morning! By the end, I had that slight pain in the side, which told me that I had indeed pushed myself. My back is a little sore, so I must have been leaning too far forward.

I'm also doing Hip Hop Abs at night. It's fun, but I am not a "dancer." The ab workout may also be why the lower back is a bit achy. It's a lot of "tightening and tucking."

I feel pretty good right now! For an almost 46 year old mother of four, I think I'm looking pretty good! I love muscles and I like feeling strong. I know my health is better now than when I was younger and that healthy feeling is what matters most.

    Outstanding, MJ! You've truly got "the run thang!"
We came into Omaha from Lincoln on Rt 6. I was shocked at all the hills in Nebraska! Now I know the flatlands are in Florida. Sooo, I can appreciate your run training. I can appreciate "listening to your body" more. After one serious episode in May 2011and recently in Jan this year. It is so important to stick firm to that plan, add strength training, and train appropriately for the goal. Through that focus, I'm insuring that I can continue to embrace that fabulous feeling when I'm running!
