Update

Friday, May 03, 2013

Don is a little more alert today than he has been over the past days. His blood sugars were over the top, but are coming down slowly. He has virtually no platelets, and they determined he has a super bug, so is getting a Buttload of antibiotics. We are pretty certain that his next move will be to hospice care....trying to deal with that right now.

Oh Trish! Our hearts go out to you and your family.

I have a favorite analogy that I probably use more often than I should but I think it is fitting. It goes like this:

Ever been to the beach when there are dangerous rip tides? If so you know, that if you're not careful you can get caught up in one and they're very powerful. They pull you out towards the sea and fighting them only tires you out and makes drowning a very strong possibilty. However, if you let yourself go with this tide it eventually carries you back towards shore and drops you off in more peaceful waters. Life is sometimes like that! It rips you away from the comfort and safety of your firm footing and feels like it's going to be the end of the world for you. If you fight it, it could indeed drown you. Instead try to ride it out and let it take you where it will. After what may be a very terrifying and tramatic ride, it will eventually turn and bring you back to a spot where you can once again regain your footing and return to a safe shore.

Trish I'm very sorry that this tide has a hold on you! Just hang on and ride it out!

    Love, hugs and prayers,
    Wood
