Day 5 Recap- The Plan - Testing Rye (Crackers)

Thursday, May 02, 2013

Weight today: 241.2 (-1.8 lb) ~ which means the cheese from yesterday tested ok, despite my error in choice!
Total Loss: -9.8 lbs

Good day today, but a lot of stressors today being at school most of the day. (We had to meet with the principal, teacher, psychologist, and counselor regarding Ryan's presumed ADHD, and discuss what the plans are to help him- had to have my "A game" on- dredge up my corporate days!! My DH was there as well, but as always, I take the lead. And it was my regular day to volunteer and stay for lunch with the kids. They are great, and I love them, but it's a wild time, and confuses my head, since I have developed anxiety issues since my leukemia treatment. So, in a nutshell, not an easy day emotionally. And it played out on the scale the next day as well, I think.)

Ok, so today was the rye test and I am supposed to test rye crackers. I bought the Wasa brand, which I had no idea where to find rye crackers, but there they were! They remind me of those crackers you feed goats at petting zoos! LOL! But it tasted fine with the almond butter. I was fine with it. Beats carrot/beet salad any day!

For Day 4-
I started my morning with my probiotic, my liver support, and SAMe. I had 4c of water with lemon and then waited 45 min until breakfast.

Breakfast was the flax granola with 1/2 pear and vanilla Rice Dream.
No coffee today.

For Lunch, I had the Cream of Broccoli Soup, and by my Spark Tracker, I am getting the idea that I made the servings on this soup too large.... It does seem like quite a bit to eat. Another little error I need to correct next time. I also had a baby romaine lettuce salad with carrot shreds, 1/4 avocado, and pumpkin seeds, dressed with EVOO, lemon juice, and black pepper.

For snack, it was the Wasa Rye Cracker with 1 Tbl of almond butter (Maranatha). Awesome!

For Dinner: I had 4 oz of the leftover Italian herb grilled chicken breast (Skinless), chopped up over baby arugula, topped with 1 Tbl of Spicy Coconut Sauce. I also had a side of sauteed zucchini, garlic cloves, and onions in EVOO and butter (1/2 T of each per serving), and finished with dried basil, fresh lemon juice and 1/2 oz of sheep's milk feta. I am able to add salt in moderation today, and I added NONE, so I didn't worry about the feta being salty, and I also cut the serving size in 1/2 to meet up more along the same sodium content as the goat cheese, and I will do this going forward. The 1/2 oz of crumbles is really plenty, and honestly, this cheese is so darn good... it's worth having less to be able to eat it!! I also had 2 oz of red wine tonight, and I am finding that is the perfect amount.
Here is dinner:

I also enjoyed dessert a bit later, and had just under 1 oz of dark chocolate- Newman's Own Organics Dark Chocolate 54%. And I think I ate this too late, but I felt hungry for it, (Probably the stressful day), maybe around 9? I forgot and didn't write it down. But it was well after dinner and water cut-off time. I will move it up next time I decide to enjoy some chocolate.

Water was finished by 8. I am finding this to be the extra 1/2 hour I need to get it in. And since I go to bed between 11 and 12, it fits in with the recommendation of no water 3-4 hours before bedtime anyway. So I will continue to shoot for 7:30, but cut off at 8:00, at the very latest.

Sounds like another good day with the plans you are making and the way you are eating. Now where can we both find good EVOO if what we are eating now is not the real thing. Did you get any info on that.

March on my sister of the heart as this seems to be what you have been needing to do for quite some time.

I get more courious by the minute of how to follow this plan your on but will try the Paleo & Wheat Belly and see how that works first as what I am doing now is just not working anymore.

I am so PROUD OF YOU my sister. LYG

Congrats! You're doing it right, tweeking your cheese (feta). Sometimes the goat cheese is overwhelming (especially in the veg. timbale, that you'll make later). My first impression of the Wasa cracker was it tasted like "styrofoam". The almond butter disguises it, and I sorta look forward to that snack now (I use Justin's Maple almond butter - they have a *chocolate* flavored one but I haven't found it in my area yet...).

Extra Virginity: The Sublime and Scandalous World of Olive Oil by Tom Mueller... have you read it, my Seven? I just bought the book - waiting for it to arrive. The reason I ask is because I notice you use EVOO on everything and I wondered if this was also discovered in the scandal.

"Once someone tries a real extra virgin -- an adult or a child, anybody with taste buds -- they'll never go back to the fake kind. It's distinctive, complex, the freshest thing you've ever eaten. It makes you realize how rotten the other stuff is, literally rotten. But there has to be a first time. Somehow we have to get those first drops of real extra virgin oil into their mouths, to break them free from the habituation to bad oil, and from the brainwashing of advertising. There has to be some good oil left in the world for people to taste.
― Tom Mueller

and here's another quote:

"It says what every olive oil says: 100 percent Italian, cold-pressed, stone ground, extra virgin..."
He shook his head, as if unable to believe his eyes. "Extra virgin? What's this oil got to do with virginity? This is a whore."
― Tom Mueller

I find it disheartening that another batch of deceivers have been telling us we're all eating PURE!! ::sighs:: Even experts are furious that THEY have discovered "E.V.O.O. just got a whole lot more complicated."

Sorry you had such a STRESSFUL day, sweetie!! That little ounce of emoticon can do no harm, compared to what the STRESS most certainly can!! emoticon

The Wasa Rye Cracker with almond butter sounds GOOD!!
