It's Almost Time!

Two days until the half marathon that I have been training for all spring!

I'm getting nervous, especially about the weather. I've gotten use to running in forty degree weather, but it looks like it might be sixty on Saturday! I'm not prepared for that heat! Since its been so cold, I'm great at running when it's cold. Today I tried running when it was sixty, and I found that I don't have appropriate clothing or a hydration system for that temperature. This is not something that I could have trained for. Please pray that it will be less than fifty degrees on Saturday morning. That's my freak out area.

Other than the temperature, I'm prepared. Two weekends ago, I ran a little over ten miles, which was the minimum I wanted to go before the mini. It was quite an adventurous run too as a dog followed me for the last two and a half miles. His name was appropriately Shadow. At one point, he stopped to sniff road kill just past the top of a hill, and I feared for his life. At the end, he ran into someone's house, scared a little girl, and got mud everywhere. Finally I grabbed him and called his family to come pick him up. It was certainly something.

My food habits have been terrible the past few weeks, but I was doing well before then. Well, I guess it's still better than it use to be. At one point my weight was down to 205, but now it's back at 207. I won't get to ONEderland by my birthday but maybe by graduation.

Strength training has gone well. I'm always amazed at how much it can help lose inches.

Well this has been a random post but back to the mini. I'm amazed at the number of people I have talked with who are running but did not train appropriately. One girl heard that I did a long run of ten miles and wanted to do the same, so she ran it yesterday. I wanted to yell, "no you should be tapering!" Anyways, I'll be fine if it's cool. I'll post about how the race went this weekend!

Current Weight: 207.8

I'm one of those that didn't train enough! Actually, I trained way way more than the first year I did it (which was none) but I was super strong then and 25 pounds lighter. I finished. I started struggling a bit between 5 and 6 (probably because I did a few 5 milers and nothing more!). Then I was good on the track and really struggled the last 2.5ish. Walked a lot of it. Now I need to get back to being good about my food cause I really wasn't the last month and a half/
