"Men succeed when they realize that their failures are the preparation for their victories." Ralph Waldo Emerson
Today I listened to a great Inside Out Weight Loss podcast in which Renee Stephens talks about the power of learning from mistakes with self acceptance and love. In other words, using mistakes as opportunities to improve, with a focus on the valuable lessons to be gained, and letting go of being angry with oneself.
I loved this podcast because I realized that block to new results is guilt and beating myself up. If I can learn with an open heart and and open mind, change is not only possible, but it's almost instantaneous.
Life is so much better when we enjoy the journey every step of the way, no matter what we weigh, no matter what issues we still want to tackle. The trick is to receive the gifts along the way.
Renee goes on to say that we should let go of statements such as "When I lose the weight then I'll get to ______." Why not do it now? Why not enjoy and say yes to life now? She continues that we should enjoy the journey as much as or more than the destination because this is a lifetime of change.
I felt so uplifted after listening to this podcast (as I always do). Suddenly I saw the amazing blossoms everywhere, heard the birds singing, and felt at peace. And with that peace came an ease to self care. It's so much easier to take care of myself when I feel grounded, balanced and calm. And I deserve to feel that way today and everyday, at any weight!
