people are frustrating!

Thursday, May 02, 2013

There are people who ask me how I have lost all this weight, and I tell them, then they want help. Now I am more then happy to help but they don't like the food I eat and that's ok there are other ways to eat. I tell them to measure - they don't have time. I offer to let them know when I go for a walk - there feet hurt, there wearing the wrong shoes. I offer other shoes- they don't have the right socks. I offer socks- maybe tomorrow. My sister comes and spends a week, (her and her partner are obese) my sister tells me my healthy way of cooking makes her stomach sick so she lives off hot dogs while she's here!!! Another friend comes over and sees my treadmill- hey when you get rid of that you can bring it to my house she says. I tell her I am not getting rid of it but she is welcome to use it. No not today but definitely another time. That was four months ago...GRRRRRRRRR people are so FRUSTRATING!!!

As I see it, if these folks are asking, they already KNOW they need to do something about their weight. The excuses - that's what they've been using for way too long so they don't have to take responsibility for their weight. You've taken responsibility for your weight and your health. You have every right to be proud of what you have accomplished. They must make that choice for themselves - you can't do it for them. If they throw out excuses, pretty much the best you can do is understand they can't cope with the issue and let it go, maybe by suggesting you'll be walking (or whatever) every Saturday afternoon (for example) at noon until 2:00 p.m. and they are always welcome to join you. Put the responsibility back on them. If they get their act together, they'll show up. If not - you can't fix other people. Just continue to take good care of yourself. emoticon

Totally agree. Almost every time I see my aunt she talks about how she is unhappy with her weight, is the heaviest she has ever been, and needs to lose weight. I suggest SP only to be met with a litany of excuses and to hear about her latest fad diet attempt the next time I talk to her. Sadly, I've just started rolling my eyes when she talks about this subject.

I agree. People are frustrating!! I think what frustrates me more is when someone sees that you have lost weight and they go ask someone who are obese for help!! Don't get it!!

I know what your saying, not right now but before when I had dropped more weight then now. I would do the same as you with people that asked and would get about the same responses. Well you can only do your best and the rest is up to them emoticon I think it is actions speak loader then words? Maybe in time they will want and then take your help! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I agree. If people put as much effort into action as they do into excuses we would all be so much healthier. Good for you for getting healthy, stick with it and do not let their excuses get you down!
