Virgin Money London Marathon 2014

Thursday, May 02, 2013

So yeah, I may have done something pretty stupid. Iíve entered the ballot for the Virgin Money London Marathon 2014. That doesnít necessarily mean Iíll be running it.

The way it works is that you enter the ballot and in October you find out if you have a place. There are guaranteed ways to get places such as being an elite athlete (which Iím most certainly not) and running for a charity. I decided not to go for a direct charity place because it puts lots more pressure onto what is already a pretty high pressure event. What I think Iíll do is if I get a ballot place, Iíll then contact a charity and offer to raise some money for them. This way the charity canít impose their targets on you.

I suppose this is yet another goal for me to achieve and Iíll already be in good shape with having a half marathon to run in October. It just means increasing the distance on my training runs.

But for now, this is fast day 1 of week 8 of 5:2 intermittent fasting. Iíll update you later in the week with how I got on.

Until thenÖ.

When I get close enough to be able to do a half marathon, I'm going to start training for Boston. So I say if you're doing okay, DO IT!!!

I don't think you made a stupid decision at all. In fact, I am inspired by you! If chosen, I know you'll rock it!

I have only completed one half marathon, but have hopes of someday completing a full marathon. I wish you well on your training and your journey.

Good luck with your training then. My son has run the London marathon twice and lots of 1/2 marathons and I know how much it takes.

I'm impressed with your progress on the Fast diet and hope mine goes as well. I'm on week 3 now.
