Well, i've officially completed one month of eating better and working out! i think it went very well, overall! i accomplished some major things.. 1) i gave up chips, pop and chocolate 2) our family didn't eat out for supper for the whole month of April 3) i worked out at least 5 days a week 4) i was more conscious of what i was putting in my mouth.
i did have a few minor slip ups on the way.. i skipped a couple workouts, i sometimes ate things i knew i probably shouldn't. but that's okay, i'm not striving for perfection, just progress.. and i did make progress!
1) Ride at least 10K on my bike every week. (consider waking up early to do this before the heat sets in)
2) My main focus is going to be running, since i have a 4K/8K race coming up on July 14th. i'm focusing on endurance, not speed. I'd like to be able to run 5K straight by then (and not feel like i'm going to die, LOL)
3) Limit take out/ordering in to 2 times a month, and make those orders as healthy as possible.
4) Eat a salad everyday
That's it.. 2 for exercise, 2 for eating.
The next three days are going to be pretty stressful to me.. my son, 11 yrs old, has Type 1 Diabetes, and he's going for a 3-day/night camp with his school. not far from here, but it's the first time he is going to be primarily responsible for his diabetes, and i'm scared. he texted us from the bus to say that his blood sugar was 2.4 (that's pretty low!!), and he's not even AT camp yet. i know he's really good at doing his own care (wouldn't have sent him otherwise), but ahhhhhhh!!! so i'm going to try, really hard, to not stress-eat over the next 3 days. i bought myself some strawberries and apples this morning, so i can munch on them if i feel the urge.
