Exercising when someone is around

While my husband was away on a long business trip I started the "Spark People" program. I was fling great! I tracked all my food and exercised almost every day. I even lost over 10 ponds in just 6 weeks.

Now my husband is back and I just can't get myself to exercise when he is around. At first I used the excuse that the videos I used, from Spark People's exercise videos, frustrated me. The videos would always stop multiple times during the exercise routine and I would have to restart the video many times. I told my husband and myself that I was too frustrated to exercise using those videos therefore I didn't exercise.

Almost two weeks ago I bought the Hip Hop Abs videos. Needless to say, I still haven't even looked at the videos. I realized that I couldn't bring myself to exercise in front of my husband. (The Family room that I exercise in is open to the formal living room where he usually is..) I'm not sure what I am afraid of. He would never say anything negative because he would be happy I am at least trying to get myself healthy. I think I would be okay exercising in front of him if he was exercising with me but that will never happen. He has already lost his weight and he is a lot more active than I am. (I usually sit to work two days a week and sit around at home as well because I have Fibro Myalgia)

Last night I read the materials that were sent with the videos. This morning I don't have to be anywhere till 9:30 when I get my hair colored. I am going to exercise this morning. I figure there is no excise for me not to exercise with the Hip Hop Abs videos at least three days a week this week. I'm hoping that once I know the exercise routines, and don't think I will imbarase myself, I will be able to exercise even if my husband is around.

My goal this week is to exercise at least three days a week with the videos and continue to walk on the other days.

I am proud to say that thanks to your support I just finished 20 minutes of a 30 minute cardio video. I had to modify it a little be cause I was having a hard time keeping up. Ny mouth and throat got so dry and I had a hard time breathing so during the last 10 minutes I slowly walked it out. Of course part of that walk was to go upstairs to get my water bottle. 😜

    Maybe you can ask him to join you. You never know, he might want to. Or just try working out when he is around and see how you feel. I work out around my boyfriend and he usually comments on how sexy I look of how great my butt looks when I'm doing Yoga, when I think that I'm all sweaty and icky. And RESPONSIBLE4ME is right, if you said that he has already lost his weight then he knows how hard it is for you so he knows what you are going through and he will be supportive of you.

    I think a lot of us having this problem. We're embarrassed to eat or exercise in front of other people...even people we love. But, you said that your husband has already lost his weight so he at least knows what you're going through and he too, had to start somewhere and may have had the same reservations. It's great that you have a plan that you can get accomplished this week! And sometimes, we just need to get our foot in the door (aka, do it onc!) and then we'll realize that there's nothing to be embarrassed about and we made a fuss of nothing. You can do it!
