April Goals - final entry

Wednesday, May 01, 2013

April was a great learning month for me. I finally figured out a way to get my kettlebells done without torturing myself. I realized that it's easier for me to push myself hard during the first two weeks of the month, but struggle the third week and then finally get (mostly) back in gear the last week. I figure that if I learn my body's patterns and adjust my goals to them, that I'll probably be a bit more successful over the long haul and stop beating myself up so much.

So, for my April goals:

1. 300,000 steps - I came in at 295,500 steps. That is just two days or so of not taking that extra 30 min walk.
2. daily strength workouts on a four-day rotation. - didn't quite meet these all month, but having this plan really kept me going. I will set this calendar plan again and work to meet each one.
3. 10,000 kettlebell swings - I met this one yesterday and really enjoyed it!!
4. Nutritional ketosis - nope. Didn't meet this one. It always takes me longer to get my head in the game when it comes to my food. The exercise comes easier. I will work harder on this in May.

Overall, I'd say it was a great month. Looking forward to May!!

Great job in April! Your blog reminds me of the importance of setting specific and timely goals. Other than swinging the kettlebell, I pretty much just "meander" through the rest of my undefined eating and exercising goals each month.

I like that you set goals, and instead of beating yourself up for the ones you didn't accomplish 100% you took the time to evaluate the progress you made because you set those goals. Your positive upbeat attitude is what will make you successful. Good luck!

Awesome! And smart too - everyone's got rhythms to their lives that have to be taken into account, so why do we always think that sheer willpower will get us where we want to be, lol?
